Enrico Stinchelli - director
Enrico Stinchelli, the well-known personality in the world of opera whose captivating programme La Barcaccia (www.radio.rai.it/radio3/barcaccia) is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is once again entrusted with the production of Otello (already directed in Pisa) at Teatru Astra on Thursday 24 and Saturday 26 October. Enrico Stinchelli returns to Gozo where in the last season he directed Madama Butterfly.
Mr. Stinchelli made his opera debut at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, after that he directed operas such as: Tosca, Barbiere di Siviglia, Fedora, Aida, Carmen, Norma, Traviata, Trovatore, Rigoletto, Falstaff, Gianni Schicchi. Mr. Stinchelli opened the 2004/05 Season with Otello at the National Theatre in Sofia, production then on tour in Japan. Among his recent engagements it is worth mentioning Traviata in Salerno, Attila in Trieste and Otello in Pisa.
Badri Maisuradze - Otello
With his dark and powerful tenor voice, Badri Maisuradze boasts a vast repertory that includes about 40 roles in Russian, Italian, French, German and Georgian works of both classical and contemporary music. Mr. Maisuradze collaborated with such conductors as Maurizio Arena, Vladimir Fedoseev, Valery Gergiev, Antonio Guadagno, Daniel Oren, Seiji Ozawa, Carlo Rizzi, Mstislav Rostropovich, Alexander Vedernikov and Marcello Viotti, performing at Europe’s major opera houses. Mr Maisuradze lately performed: Otello at the Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, at the Split Summer Festival in Croatia, at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and at the Cape Town Opera; Aida at the Greek National Opera in Athens; Il Tabarro and Cavalleria Rusticana in Messina; Samson et Dalila (Samson) at the Opéra de Montpellier.
Among his future plans it is worth mentioning I Pagliacci at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.
